Category: the Rant Board

Hi all. I know it doesn't make any since to any of you, but I have something to vent about. I know of people who make the dectalk speech synthesizer sing. There is , or I should say was, a site that had works of the singing dectalk. I've loved and submitted files to the site. Since march, the site was down. It was down, and still is, do to bandwidth issues. A few months later, someone else set up a mirror of the archive, and now it's down! It has been down for 3 months. I don't want to mention names, but I talked to these people who own these sites and they said they'd have it up soon! I'm not getting any younger! I know I'm taking it to extremes, but this is the rant board, isn't it?
I hope these absent minded eggheads get on the ball!
I'm done ranting now.

I got sick of them after a while.
Unless people have come out with some truly exciting material lately then it's probably just as well it's down
In the mean time so if anyone is looking for anything let me know if I do you can have a copy.

Hi download 87.
A few days ago i had a look at your website and some of the audio files you put ap there seam to be missing. When you click on them it says the page could not be found or something like that. So before complaining about other people's websites you should fix yours first lol.
Now back to the point last time i visited the dectalk archive the download was so slow so i gave up with it. But some of the files are very interesting. I especially like the work of Patrick Perdu and Sam Talor. They are very creative.

Hi Nikos,
I'm sorry about the files being missing. I don't know what's wrong. I tried everything to get the links to work. I should rant about my own site before ranting about others.

Wow! I've always wanted to know how to make synthes sing. I've heard some of the songs before and think they are so cool. Can anyone here tell me how I can go about doing this too? lol I would love to have a synthe sing some of the songs I write. What programs do you use and how can I get them?

A very curious Michelle

Well there's software you need to do this, but you can find it on the site I ranted about.

I've looked at that information. It seems quite helpful.

Well, I know of a site that used to have the dectalk archive. It was down and still is for 3 months. Last night, I hacked onto the ftp server where the archive was with a user name and password the owner of the site gave me to submit files. Well, I created new folders, and uploaded some of the dectalk files I had to the appropriate folders. I'll continue to upload the files to the site. I was the one who thought about doing that. I've been emailing the owner of the site asking when the archive will be back up. He said in a few weeks. It's been more than a few weeks, and low and behold, it's still not up. If that egghead isn't going to get on the ball, I'll do itfor him.
